Balenciaga is about to launch a childrenswear line for the Spring/Summer 2018. The luxury label's first junior collection will reach the stores on Wednesday 13th December, though some of its looks were already featured at the menswear show held at the Bois de Boulogne in Paris last June. "It is just a one-off collection," said a Balenciaga spokesperson.

The Kering group's luxury label is keen to make an experimental foray into the junior segment, capitalising on the Balenciaga hype generated by Creative Director Demna Gvasalia, also the founder and designer of the much-coveted Vetements label.

It isn't the first trial run for Balenciaga, which last July also signed a mini collection of plush children's toys, each wearing a Balenciaga mini t-shirt, available exclusively at Parisian concept store Colette.

The new collection features a series of basic unisex items (sweatshirts, t-shirts, jackets, etc.) for children aged 2 to 10 years, as well as a mini version of the famous 'Speed Trainer' sneaker-socks.

The Balenciaga logo, now synonymous with absolute cool, is ubiquitously scattered across the whole collection, also in its 'Bernie Sanders' version, Demna Gvasalia's own take for Balenciaga - featuring the famous wavy stripes - of the logo used by the Democratic party candidate at the 2016 US presidential election campaign.

The collection will be distributed by selected multi-brand e-tailers, as well as at Balenciaga stores and on its e-shop.
