Blu & Blue is based between New York, where its designer and founder Aaina Jain resides, and New Delhi, where Jain’s family garment manufacturing plant creates its garments. The brand is currently available in multi-brand boutiques in the US and Taiwan as well as in Germany, France, and the Netherlands where the brand debuted earlier this year. As Jain hopes to continue expanding the brand internationally, going online should help immensely. Amazon’s large distribution network will also allow the brand to reach many new locations.

Jain is also increasingly pursuing ethical garment production. Jain has installed solar panels at her family garment production plant which has been running for 35 years. These panels give the factory power and also treat 80,000 gallons of water each day. “There’s so much wastage in the fashion industry today,” Jain told Forbes.

Speaking about her desire to pursue ethical fashion, Jain said: “It’s something that we take very seriously.” Jain also uses fabric cutting techniques that minimise waste which also has the added bonus of cutting costs.

Blu & Blue currently has around 100 employees but has not disclosed any financial information as yet. The brand, which has a team in both India and the US, was launched by Jain in 2015.
