In this role, Record succeeds Paul Beesley, who announced he would part ways with the company in July and later said he would remain as CFO until HBC names his successor. Record joins the Canadian company from JCPenney, where he served as CFO for three years and helped improve the retailer’s capital structure, reduce its debt leverage, and improve its credit rating.

Prior to joining JCPenney, Record served as EVP, COO at Stage Stores, and he began his career at Kaufmann’s, a division of the May Department Store Company.

“Ed’s deep retail experience will support our company’s mission to get ahead and stay ahead of the rapidly changing retail environment,” commented Jerry Storch, CEO, HBC. “He will play a key role as we continue to drive performance and make the right strategic decisions to improve our retail businesses, while also evaluating the best use of our real estate assets.”
