Xie Wenjian took charge of Chinese personal care products group Shanghai Jahwa three years ago, and has now resigned for personal reasons.

The group owns skincare brand Herborist and operates a joint-venture with French perfumery retailer Sephora in China. Xie Wenjian's replacements have already been appointed, as the group decided to split the posts of President and CEO: Liu Dong, formerly Vice-President of Ping An Trust, will become Jahwa's President, while Zhang Dongfang, formerly CEO of Vinda International, will take over as Jahwa's CEO.

The China Daily newspaper indicated that, while Jahwa stated that Xie Wenjian has left for personal reasons, some analysts surmise that the group's recent downturn in profits could be behind his leaving.

Jahwa claims to have been the first to sell products by a Chinese cosmetics brand outside of the country, the case in point being Herborist, since 2008. In the last fiscal year, Jahwa recorded a revenue of CNY5.52 billion (€756 million).
