Vancouver-based athleisure company Lululemon Athletica Inc. has opened its first run concept store, baptized The Mile End Local.

Located in Montreal’s Mile End neighborhood at 268 Rue St Viateur Ouest, the concept store spans 2,000 square feet and offers a selection of gear for before, during and post run, as well as community specific activities.

The concept store joins a slew of other 'hyper-local’ stores that have opened across North America, which Lululemon has dubbed “Locals”, that offer programming and gear specific to their community.

“The Mile End was developed as a response to a need for a run sweat hub in Montreal, a city known for its running culture. It will be a breeding ground for runners from all backgrounds who wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to meet, all the while offering guests a large selection of some of the brand’s top run product,” the company said in a news statement.

All “Locals” are also designed with specific elements that reflect each city and what makes it unique.

The Mile End “Local” features a 12-foot reclaimed wood harvest table designed by local wood-worker Union Wood, an in-house film projector, banks of gym lockers, an interactive bilingual digital community board and a 360-degree art installation by local street artist turned typography specialist Marc Sirus.

Lululemon concept stores can also be found in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Fort Collins, Colorado; Bend, Oregon and more.
