Following the celebration of Fashion Week in New York, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris, ModaLisboa gets its turn. The most important fashion festival in Portugal will take place in the country’s capital on Friday, October 6 until Sunday, October 8 and will show the spring/summer 2018 collections from various Portuguese brands.

Titled “Luz,” the 49th edition of the event will include a series of runway shows, as well as other fashion events such as the Wonder Room, a store dedicated to Portuguese brands, as well as “fast talks,” a series of conferences featuring artists and designers discussing the creative process.

Throughout the weekend, 23 runway shows, 15 of which will be debut shows, will take place at the Carlos Lopes center at the city’s Edward VII park. Of those shows, seven will take place in the surrounding gardens and will be open to the public. Such is the case with the Friday show from Patrick de Padúa y de Duarte, Saturday’s presentations from Imauve + Carolina Machado, David Ferreira and Awaytomars, and Sunday’s  shows from Morecco, Nair Xavier with Diniz&Cruz and Eureka.

Saturday will also host the Sangre Novo (Young Blood) section of the event, which showcases 10 emerging Portuguese designers who represent a “rebirth of light, which recreates in the energy, imagination and talent of new generations,” according to the organization. The same day will also see the new collections from Valentim Quaresma and Ricardo Preto.

Saturday will also see repudiated designers Ricardo Andrez and Nuno Gama show their new lines. Serbian designer Aleksandar Protic will show that same day, which closes with a presentation from Dino Alves.
