Issey Miyake Fashion Show - Menswear Spring/Summer Collection 2018 (with interview)

Designer: Yusuke TakahashiAtmosphere: On the grand staircase of the Pierre & Marie Curie University in Paris. The desire to unveil an urban collection inspired by foreign travel.Collection: Wrap-around coats and jackets, created in double cotton - tops coordinated with trousers, ample, fluid, often tightened at the ankle. The touches of colour on the suits, such as orange which evokes the sunset, and blues which are reminiscent of the sky.Focus on: The leading print suggestive of a geological strata. A return to earth. Interview Yusuke Takahashi:Of course we ran the study about the philosophy of the Issey Miyake, but that was 40 years ago, so I combined those elements with the modern lifestyle, being sporty and easy, and also there are so many sand colours and beiges in the brand, so I wanted to make a beige atmosphere, so I chose this occasion to go to the desert. The most important fabric is the double-faced cotton, so that is in the first work, and it’s a very signature fabric of the brand. We made it to express the stratum but we used the colour of sky blue, and the sand beige, but I thought, ‘That is very much like a sand-storm, and it’s a very abstract print’.Music of the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information)
