The windows of Fenwick’s Bond Street store are showcasing the contemporary collections of five emerging Indonesian designers as part of a joint initiative from the British Fashion Council, Fenwick and the Centre for Fashion Enterprise.

The window display will remain until 3 May, and the pop-up show will run until 18 May - British Council

Running until 18 May, the store will also host an exclusive pop up shop with a Fenwick-curated edit of the collections, marking the first time a group Indonesian brands is available to buy on the UK high street.

The initiative is also supported by the Indonesian government, which is known for championing young designers and the domestic garment trade. The pop-up was launched with the presence of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who visited the even to meet the designers following a signing of an MOU between the UK's Department of Culture, Sport and Media and Indonesia's Badan Ekonomi Kreatif.

Designers included in the showcase are Toton, Major Minor, Peggy Hartanto, By Velvet and Sean & Sheila; all alumni of the incubator programme Indonesia Fashion Forward, initiated by the British Council in partnership with the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, Jakarta Fashion Week and the Creative Economy Agency of Indonesia.

The British Council will also promote increased cultural collaboration between the UK and Indonesia as part of its UK-ID campaign for 2017. Among other initiatives, the institution will seek to create a series of residencies for graduate UK fashion designers in Indonesia.
