The cosmetics giant and the Japanese creative have been working on a scent dubbed 'Avon Life Colour', which is set to launch later this year.

"This company is wonderful, full of great young talent, dealing with a business in a complex and competitive environment, looking to offer great products at an affordable price, such as the case with Avon Life Colour," said Takada in a statement. "It follows what I initially did in fashion, trying to democratise great products."

He added: "The world is filled with colours and this beautiful collaboration with Avon allowed me to capture in a scent the colourful spirit of positivity that is inside of all of us. The fragrance imparts the vibrant, joyful energy that we need so much nowadays."

The scent, which will be suitable for men and women, was dreamed up by Takada with the help of master perfumers Frank Voelkl and Olivier Cresp. According to Avon, it aims to capture the designer's "joie de vivre and irreverent personality".

Avon and Takada have worked together before, having released a debut scent, 'Avon Life', back in 2016. The fragrance achieved Avon's highest-ever sales for a perfume in the first quarter after its launch.

Takada founded the prestigious fashion label Kenzo in 1970, but moved on from his eponymous brand in 1999. The house is now owned by luxury conglomerate LVMH.
