The New York branch of Dover Street Market, the fashion retail store created by Rei Kawakubo of Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons, will open its doors at 160 Lexington Avenue on December 21. And much like its London and Tokyo counterparts, DSMNY will have its own online store, delivering worldwide.

Amongst the brands available at the store are, bien sur, the entire Commes des Garçons range, including Comme des Garçons Shirt, as well as brands such as Junya Watanabe and Simone Rocha. And with a towering total of seven floors and floor space of 1800m². expect the store to be more comparable to Japan than London.

Originally launched in London in 2004 by Comme des Garçons, Dover Street Market popped up in Tokyo in 2012. Located in the city’s Ginza district, the store neighbors and connects to a Uniqlo megastore, offering a dual hit of retail therapy.

Around the time of the Japanese opening, Adrian Joffe, husband to Rei Kawakubo, said to the British press that they were looking for possible off-the-beaten-track locations in New York and in Paris, where the label has an office and holds its runway show.
