Dover Street Market opening in New York

Multi-brand store Comme des Garçons is continuing on its international adventure. President of the company and husband of founder Rei Kawakubo, Adrian Joffe revealed on Friday that they would be opening the first American branch of Dover Street Market in New York. The seven-storey store will be on Lexignton Avenue and will measure a huge 21,000 square feet. The store is due to open in December 2013 and will house a selection of items from Comme des Garcons brands, both for men and for women, amongst items from other luxury brands. In London, for example, Dover Street Market sells Adidas Originals, Adam Kimmel Special, New Balance and Mark McNairy.

Founded in London in 2004 by Comme des Garcons on the street that gives its name to the store, Dover Street Market opened its second store in the Ginza district of Tokyo in March 2012. At the time of opening, Adiran Joffe declared to the press that the company was looking for locations in New York and Paris.
