The store closure is not due to financial reasons or a bankruptcy. Storeowner Jeannette de Graaf told local Dutch newspaper Steenwijker Courant that she is ready for a new challenge.

“Owning and operating a store as an independent retailer entails much more than just the shop itself. It is not just the shop every day, but there is so much more: purchasing, administration and so on. One is busy day and night. I am looking forward to do something different,” she continued to the newspaper.

Billie Modeschoenen first opened the doors of the family-run business in 2001. In 2014, De Graaf added a second branch to Billie’s store portfolio by opening a store in Meppel.

Billie Modeschoenen offers collection for men, women and children. The store’s range includes brands such as Tamaris, S. Oliver, Skechers and Bullboxer. Billie Modeschoenen Steenwijk will remain open until the end of February 2018. Until that time, the remaining stock will be offered at a reduced price.
