Eyewear giant Luxottica to make Coach glasses

MILAN, Oct 5, 2010 AFP © - Italian firm Luxottica, the world's top eyewear maker, has signed an agreement to produce frames for leading US fashion brand Coach from 2012, the two companies said in a statement on Tuesday.

"We're very excited about this partnership, which will combine Coach's distinct design aesthetic with Luxottica's excellent product quality and craftsmanship," Coach chairman Lew Frankfort said in the statement.

Luxottica owns the Oakley and Ray-Ban brands and also makes eyewear for Chanel and Prada. The new agreement with Coach will see Luxottica-produced frames sold under the Coach, Coach Poppy and Reed Krakoff brands.

Annual sales are estimated at 100 million dollars (73 million euros) a year.
