The Estates at Acqualina, Miami’s brand new luxury residential development, has become the latest design project for Karl Lagerfeld. The Trump Group announced on Monday that the world-renowned designer will design two residential lobby spaces for the new development that is slated to open in 2020.

The ultra-luxury development is the first condominium project in the United States to involve Lagerfeld. The Estates will feature lobbies that reflect Lagerfeld’s aesthetic with custom features, furnishings and finishes all conceived and designed by Lagerfeld himself.

“I am excited by the opportunity to design the lobbies of The Estates at Acqualina and take great pride in knowing that the spaces I create will be such important spaces in the building,” said Karl Lagerfeld. “Not only are they significant because they offer the first impression of the building, they are also the spaces where people come to socialize daily; they are like a common living room. My designs are inspired by the look of each lobby, the building and the destination of Florida especially. The climate is very warm there and I wanted something fresh.”

When complete, the development will offer 265 residences from three to seven bedrooms in two, 50-story boutique towers, Via Acqualina 777 and Via Acqualina 888. The Estates will also include Villa Acqualina, offering over 45,000-square-feet of amenities including a spa and fitness center, and 5.6 acres of grounds and gardens, multiple infinity pools, sports activities, restaurants and 24-hour services.

The new development follows on the heels of The Mansions at Acqualina that opened last fall.

Lagerfeld possesses many years of experience in interior design and hotels. The Chanel and Fendi Creative Director is slated to open a 270-room, 20-story hotel in his name in Macau in 2017, and he designed the interiors for Berlin luxury boutique Patrick Hellmann Schlosshotel and a concept for the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo.
