The latter succeeds Luca Bertolini, who was appointed CEO in July 2013. The role had been created at the time to strengthen the brand internationally, as well as the management of the BVM family company, which manufactures and distributes under licence, in addition to its own Les Copains brand and luxury label Gianbattista Valli.

Gaetano Sallorenzo has a long-standing experience in fashion. He was formerly CEO for the children's label I Pinco Pallino, and for luxury footwear brand Stuart Weitzman. He was also in charge of the Replay denim brand, and of Calvin Klein Jeans and Sportswear for Europe and Asia. He was also President of North America for Giorgio Armani.

His appointment is part of the relaunch and expansion path on which Les Copains set off in 2012. The brand was founded in Bologna, Italy, in 1953 by Mario Bandiera, currently BVM's President, and is styled today by his wife, Stefania Bandiera, while US designer Peter Som is in charge of creativity for the contemporary Blue Les Copains line.
