Showcasing some of the most iconic pieces from the luxury brand, the exhibition will offer unprecedented insight into Prada’s creative approach, inspirations and collaborations.

It will also explore how Miuccia Prada, who joined the family business in the mid-70s, turned the brand into one of the most successful fashion houses in the world.

“With her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, she has changed the way that people dress, redefined how we understand luxury, explored new materials and technologies and invested passionately in art, design and architecture. She has made Prada the essence of modernity,” said the London Design Museum about the Italian designer.

The designer brand’s future will be also considered under the scope of its transformation and evolution.

The London Design Museum said the exhibition will illustrate the impact of design on a variety of sectors.

The 2020 programme also includes a sneaker exhibition dedicated to the style icons and brand collaborations that have shaped the sneaker scene. There will be limited-edition silhouettes, rare colourways and innovative creations like self-lacing, 3D printed trainers. ‘Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street’ opens in May.

The museum has previously hosted fashion exhibitions on Paul Smith and Azzedine Alaïa.
