Marchesa, which was founded by British designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in 2004, has typically shown at New York Fashion Week and is known for dressing Hollywood elite in over the top evening gowns. This will be the brand’s first appearance at Arab Fashion Week, which is now in its fourth edition.

The brand’s ready-to-wear line will show on May 16 on the first day of Arab Fashion Week, while the bridal line will show on the event’s last day, on May 20. Guests and clients will be able to purchase pieces from the collections on the spot at a special boutique at Dubai’s Meydan Hotel. An estimated 15,000 guests will attend this year’s Arab Fashion Week.

Earlier this year, Marchesa partnered with Ginza Fashion to open a boutique at the Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue. The store is modeled after the style of 1940s Parisian apartments.

Marchesa recently captured headlines by dressing Chrissy Teigen and Rita Ora in custom designs for last week’s Met Gala honoring Rei Kawakubo. However showing in Dubai represents a shift in the brand from focusing primarily on red carpet looks to attempting to capture the growing Middle Eastern fashion market.
