UK heritage brand Peregrine has just opened a standalone space in London’s Selfridges — on the menswear floor — with the debut following its opening a few months ago on Regent Street, also in London’s West End.

The brand, which is based in Bristol and manufactures in Manchester at its own factory, said the Selfridges opening “supports the iconic department store and the brand's shared sustainable vision. The shop-in-shop is part of Selfridges’ bold sustainability strategy, Project Earth, which sets out to reinvent retail and change the way we shop and do business by 2025”.

The company’s earlier Regent Street debut was actually its first standalone store. Selling its men’s, women ’s and its soon-to-launch kids’ collections, it opened its doors shortly after the latest lockdown in England ended in the spring.

MD Tom Glover said: “As an independent British heritage brand, making fully traceable garments with a low carbon footprint from source to our own factory here in the UK, we are incredibly proud to be launching this concession within one of the country’s most iconic stores, synonymous with sustainability.”

The two openings have come on the brand’s 225th anniversary and to mark that, the brand has also launched new products and collaborations. New is Makers Stitch, a unisex limited-edition 100% washed merino wool jumper with a unique stitch hand-sewn on the hem. Each jumper can be traced back to the individual machinist in their Manchester Factory, highlighting their close relationship with the maker.

And Peregrine is to launch a new range of children's jumpers on November 20, “designed to be 'mini' versions of the men's AW21 knitwear collection”.

Also launching this season, are two menswear collaborations with British manufactured brands Goral Shoes, and trouser and oil cloth manufacturer Yarmouth Oilskins. That means a trainer that’s 100% manufactured in the UK in tweed cloth, and a high-waist trouser recreated in corduroy to fit into the men's AW21 nautical-inspired range.
