Shang Xia, the understated Chinese luxury label, has promoted Sophia Wu to the role of chief executive officer, according to multiple reports.

Wu, who previously served as the luxury brand's chief operating officer, replaces Jiang Qiong Er, who founded the Chinese luxury brand with Hermès in 2010 and has served as its chief executive since its inception.

Jiang will remain a board member and stay on in a new advisory role at Exor, the Agnelli family holding company that acquired a majority stake in Shang Xia in December 2020 for around €80 million.

The news comes after the Shanghai-based Shang Xia appointed Yangi Li as its new creative director, in September last year. The Chinese designer went on to unveil his first collection for the  house in October in Paris, marking the brand's fashion week debut in the city of lights.

In addition to Shang Xia, Exor's brand portfolio includes Christian Louboutin, Ferrari, Juventus and The Economist Group.
