American apparel and footwear company VF Corporation announced it has selected Denver’s Lower Downtown district for its new global headquarters. Building renovations are set to begin in early 2019 with a completion date of early 2020.

The 10-story, 285,000-square-foot building will house an estimated 1,200 employees. According to the company, which signed a 12-year lease for the building, the new offices will create over 800 new jobs in Denver over the next eight years.

The building is owned by Bentall Kennedy’s U.S. Core Fund and has a LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, enhancing VF Corp's environmentally-conscious image.

“Our focus is to create an office that is sustainable, highly functional, visually inspiring and reflective of the active, outdoor lifestyles that each of our brands enable consumers to enjoy,” said Steve Rendle, VF corp chairman, president and CEO, in a release.

“Our extensive search process led us to review multiple options across the Metro Denver area...the combination of LoDo and the building...came together to meet all of our criteria," continued Rendle. "It’s the ideal setting for us to create a dynamic, collaborative working environment where our business, brands and employees can thrive.”

This announcement follows the company's decision in August to co-locate its brands The North Face, JanSport, Smartwool, Eagle Creek and Altra, as well as its Global Innovation Center for Technical Fabrics and Digital Lab, in Colorado.

Currently, VF Corp employs nearly 70,000 people worldwide with operations across over 170 countries. Other subsidiaries of the company include Wrangler, Lee, Timberland and Vans
