From April 1, German fashion e-tailer Zalando is reshuffling the responsibilities of its three co-CEOs, and adding two new members to its executive board, having appointed a new chief technology officer and chief financial officer.

The mission of each of Zalando’s three co-CEOs has been redefined. David Schneider remains in charge of the fashion range and of partnerships with labels. Robert Gentz will now take responsibility for marketing and sales, while still being the head of human resources. Rubin Ritter is now in charge of corporate strategy. Also, two new members are joining the three co-CEOs on Zalando's executive board.

The first is new CTO Jim Freeman, who joined Zalando last April as senior vice-president engineering, having formerly led the launch of Amazon Prime Video and of the US online giant’s voice assistant, Alexa. The second is David Schröder, who has been working for nine years at Zalando, lately as vice-president operations, and now becomes its new CFO.

News of the appointments came as Zalando recently reported a 20% hike in group revenue, up to €5.3 billion. The German e-tailer’s senior management is forecasting a 20 to 25% increase in the 2019 financial year. To reach this, Zalando is relying on growing its gross merchandising value (GMV), which last year amounted to €6.6 billion. Zalando’s goal is for third-party sales via the site’s Partner Programme to account for 40% of GMV by 2023-2024, as opposed to 10% now.
