Carlin Group: The jewelry trend to follow – Fashion week SS16

Published
Oct 19, 2015

Among the jewelry trends seen on the catwalks during the fashion-weeks of spring-summer, there is one that held our specific attention, large spheres, hanging in the model’s ears, underlining the movement of the body and swinging on the pace of the steps.

At Prada, these impressing balls are shown both in a playful and design way, playing a key-role in the fashion message since we can find them back on every silhouette of the show: a bourgeois chic, avant-garde and rejuvenated.

As for Dolce & Gabanna who continue their big fresco of a mythic and eternal Italy, showing full and ripe ceramic citrus fruits in a handcrafted way that evokes culinary arts in a convoluted version.

In a more minimal treatment we saw an all-metal version at Thomas Tait, young and promising talent and laureate of the LVMH Prize of last year, as part of a both sober and pop collection.
And then we have the unavoidable pearly sphere that confirms the graceful comeback of the pearl from now on taken out of its classic-bourgeois purgatory. Or, how to combine elegance and design.

We can see it in a very pure version at Salvatore Ferragamo or done in 2 layers at Roland Mouret who prescribes the «one ear» look, giving a very unusual touch to a quite elegant and structured collection.
Even though shown mostly as hoop earrings, we recommend to develop this « sphere » trend for maxi-rings and crewneck necklaces, an item that will stay a top trend for the coming seasons and that we have seen in various versions during these fashion weeks spring-summer 2016.
